WHY DO WE EXIST?

To rid the world of terrible training.

What We Believe

Learning is an essential component of any successful business.

There is a science to learning and art to delivering it.

Great learning can change the world, one person at a time.

What We Do

Accelerate the process of defining a learning strategy that moves the needle.

Craft effective training that engages, educates, and inspires.

Consult on technologies to support the learning function.

Inspire L&D teams to work, think, and imagine better.

How We Do It

We bring innovative tools and techniques from business, instructional design, marketing, behavioral economics, and human-centered design. The results are solutions that both delight leadership and inspire creativity in their teams.

“What you see is all there is.”

– Daniel Kahneman

Who We Are

The best teachers are lifelong learners.

We are a family of professionals passionate about people, performance, and progress. So why not learning you ask? We’ve found that people seek out learning to increase performance, and organizations desire to make progress. But, at the same time, we are fascinated by how people work, what makes them tick, and finding ways to unlock their full potential. We constantly endeavor to prioritize the business goals and then align a solution to fit.

We are all learning professionals who come from very different backgrounds. Therefore, we intentionally seek talented people who will lend a diversity of perspectives to each engagement. In addition, experience has taught us that individuals who are comfortable challenging the status quo are well suited to craft innovative solutions to challenging problems.

About our Founder – Dan Black

I’m guessing you’re here because you need to get a sense of who I am. Ok, well, I firmly believe I’m currently a product of my experience, mistakes, and successes. Teaching and learning have been my passion since I started my first tutoring business in Middle School. During my bumble bee career, I’ve worked for Price Water and Bank of America - in project management and marketing - where I was always teaching. After 10 years, I found myself restless for a new challenge, so I started out independently.

I started and grew a top-performing real estate company. How? Training. Training for new agents, agents looking to grow, and leadership programs for those running teams. Before I knew it, I found myself traveling across the country teaching other agents and brokers how to do what I had done. But alas, when the kiddos were born being on the road 180 days a year didn’t bode well for being a good Dad (my toughest and most rewarding training job thus far!).

In 2009 I wanted to build upon my experience so I became passionate about the science and art of creating great learning experiences. I immersed myself in professional organizations, volunteered for mentoring startups, and built financial literacy curriculums for the local elementary schools. If learning was part of the project, I was in!

My experience got a massive jolt leading the Learning Strategy team for a custom training design and development company. I experienced what training looks like in clients of all sizes. There are different approaches to achieving success through training affected by the size. I also learned some times training isn’t the only answer but rather part of a larger solution. For five years in this role, our team designed and built customized solutions for over 130 companies globally. I spent the last two years working with a colleague at an Innovation Enablement firm applying the mindset and toolset of human-centered design and, shocker, building training products for the company.

Along the way, I’ve benefited from incredible mentors, met insanely talented people, and made my fair share of mistakes. So, now I’m the father of two, I support an amazing (and successful) woman, and I run The Learning Innovation Group. We pride ourselves on helping L&D teams, small businesses, nonprofits, and government organizations build amazing learning experiences.

That’s my story, there is, of course, more to it - but I’d like to learn more about you. So, give me a buzz, and let’s geek out about learning and how it might fuel what you’re into.
